iOS 9.2.1 Jailbreak Not Coming Anytime Soon
The iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak probably will not be released anytime soon, and there are still no announcements on when the tool is scheduled to come out.
Rumor has it that hacker groups PanGu and TaiG have decided to release the iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak after iOS 9.3 comes out to prevent Apple from creating a more secure operating system. However, many were disappointed when the public version of iOS 9.3 Beta 2 was released last week and no jailbreak tool followed, according to Neuro Gadget.
Apple is reportedly planning to release the iOS 9.3's final version to the public within this month, but the schedule for the iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak is still up in the air, the Inquisitr reports.
Apple has been trying hard to construct its latest iOS versions in such a way that hacker groups will not be able to develop jailbreak tools. Cracking the mobile OS will allow users to customize their iDevices according to their preferences and unlock several previously inaccessible features and options, the report explains.
Although Apple has been working hard to patch the loopholes that TaiG and PanGu have exploited, the two hacker groups are still persistent in their efforts to crack the iOS.
Some reports say PanGu's partner PP already has the iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak tool but has not yet decided to release it. This piece of information, however, has not yet been confirmed. Releasing the anticipated tool after iOS 9.3 comes out may serve the hackers well because the tactic prevents Apple from seeing their exploits and releasing patches for the upcoming version.
Meanwhile, an Italian hacker named Luca Todesco has reportedly cracked iOS 9.2.1, and he even posted a screenshot as evidence. The authenticity of his claim still has not been verified, but many Twitter users have already requested him to share the jailbreak release. Todesco said there are still some bugs in the system and it will take him a bit of time to release the final jailbreak tool.
When Apple released iOS 9 in October last year, the firm followed it up with five updates to address the screen freeze and lock screen bypass issues, and to add support for the iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, fourth-generation Apple TV, Arabic language, and USB camera adapter. The last update, iOS 9.2.1, was released on Jan. 19.
