iPad Air 2 Release Date Coming in the Fall, Specs to Include A8 Chip and 8MP Camera

The iPad Air 2 release date will be sometime in the fall of this year.

A recent report from Korean site ETNews revealed that the second-gen model will feature the same featherweight design as the original with its 9.7-inch Retina LCD display at 2048 x 1536 resolution. The slate will get upgraded elsewhere as it will come with a new 8-megapixel rear camera instead of the 5. It will also have a larger sensor for improved low-light performance and its version of iOS 8 will cater directly to the tablet's size when it comes to taking pictures.

The iPad Air 2 will include an upgraded version of Apple's A8 processor that will improve both performance and battery life. The Touch ID fingerprint sensor found on the iPhone 5s will also be a welcomed addition.

There is no official news of a release date at this time, but the tablet should drop sometime in the fall if Apple decides to follow is regular launch schedule.

The company will most likely release the new iPad Air alongside the third-generation iPad mini. Apple used to launch its tablets in the beginning of the year, but changed its schedule in 2012 after it decided to introduce the small model and rushed out the 4th gen iPad.

Apple is also expected to release two new iPhones around the same time. The rumored 4.7-inch model is rumored to be hitting the market first and it will feature a larger frame than all the previous models. There are even rumors pointing to Apple putting out an iPhone Air model to keep in step with its latest branding for its computers and tablets. The company will probably begin announcing these products at the top of September.
