iPhone 5 Rumors: High Quality Picture Leaked From Apple Campus

An image has surfaced on the internet this week that is being rumored to have been taken from the upcoming and greatly anticipated iPhone 5.

Tech website Pocket Now came across an image of someone’s lunch that was supposedly taken by an iPhone 4.

However, following closer examination, Pocket Now’s Evan Blass claimed the resolution and quality of the picture was too high to be from the iPhone 4’s camera.

To be exact, the version of the image the site received was cropped to 2235x2291 at 5.12-megapixels. But the site discovered that the original version was actually much larger at 3264x2448-which is actually just shy of 8-megapixels.

The camera rumored to be on the next generation iPhone is 8-megapixels.

Commentators are saying that the photo in question is very unlikely to have come from an iPhone 4 as that phone’s camera only operates at 5-megapixels.

Also, the lens used to record the image was calculated by the site to be 4.3mm f2.4. The iPhone 4 only sports a 3.85mm f2.8 lens.

Blass admits that this photo could indeed be a fake, but pictures taken with next generation smartphones before their initial release is not an uncommon occurrence.

The picture was supposedly taken by an Apple engineer on the company’s campus.

The iPhone 5 is rumored to be released sometime in early October with pre-orders beginning for the device by the end of this month.

An 8-megapixel camera has been one of its rumored features although Apple has not confirmed any information regarding the device.

The smartphone will be carried by AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint.
