iPhone 5S vs. iPhone Lite: Budget iPhone Better Than Apple Flagship? September Release Date Rumors (PHOTOS)

A new low-cost iPhone is expected soon as photos of the supposed iPhone Lite smartphone were leaked online recently. Analysts have said the so-called budget phone may be released along with the high-end iPhone 5S in September, but with a more attractive price and some impressive specs.

The new image appeared on Chinese site Weibo on Friday and some are already saying the low-cost phone will be more durable and cheaper than the highly expected Apple next generation iPhone, probably called the iPhone 5S.

The iPhone Lite is expected to share many specs with the iPhone 5S, with a 4-inch Display, 5 MP Camera, HP 5Dual core Processor, 1GB RAM and 4G LTE. The 5S was rumored to feature a 4.3-inch display, a faster A6 processor, 8 MP back camera, quad-core SGX 554MP4 graphics, 3 GB of RAM and an upgraded LTE radio.

The iPhone 5S may also feature an upgraded 12-megapixel camera, a dual-LED flash and a fingerprint scanner.

But the Lite will feature a polycarbonate casing instead of the premium-build metal casings, which will allow its price to be lower, between $300 and $400. Its cheaper construction could enable Apple to better market its products in developing markets, experts say.

The Lite offers durability with a plastic case over an aluminum cover, a cheaper price, and more color casing options, while presenting similar specs inside and out, rumors suggest.

As for the release date, tech analysts believe the iPhone 5S and the low-cost iPhone Lite will be released in September, with some saying on the 6th, while others suggest the 27th.

Some other reports though believe the iPhone Lite will be released with the iPhone 6 in September, instead of the iPhone 5S.
