The brief relationship between Garofalo and Cohen included a trip to Las Vegas where they got married as part of a joke.

"[We thought] you have to go down to the courthouse and sign papers and stuff, so who knew," she asked.

The "Truth About Cats & Dogs" star added that she and Cohen only realized the existence of their marriage recently because the writer's impending and "real" marriage.

"We were married, and apparently now that [Rob] is getting married for real, his lawyer dug up something," said Garofalo. "Rob and I got married, for real, which we had to have a notary dissolve not 30 minutes before we got here tonight. We were married for 20 years until this evening."

Cohen, who also attended Saturday's event, also commented on the divorce while referring to Garofalo's 1994 film "Reality Bites."

"I'm gonna get all of that 'Reality Bites' money," joked the producer of "The Big Bang Theory" when asked if the split from Garofalo benefited him financially, reported The NY Post.

Garofalo joked about their brief romance, recalling, "I'm sure I was terrible," to which Cohen noted, "I will confirm that."

The actress is well known for her roles in films such as "Now and Then," "We Hot American Summer," and "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion," among many others.

A liberal political activist and writer, Garofalo is the former co-host of Air America Radio's "The Majority Report," which is now defunct.
