Jessica Simpson Moving: $8M Home for Sale

Jessica Simpson is the latest celebrity to make headlines in the real estate realm this week.

The heavily pregnant star is likely in the market for a bigger home as her family continues to grow - Simpson and her fiancé Eric Johnson are already parents to daughter Maxwell and are expecting baby number two in the coming months.

Today, the 32-year-old is selling her Beverly Hills home for $7.995 million, real estate website Redfin has reported.

Simpson initially bought the home in December 2005 for $5.275 million. Coincidentally, the purchase occurred on the same day that the "Fashion Star" mentor officially filed for a divorce from Nick Lachey.

The asking price has increased since Simpson's purchase because the star recently renovated the five bedroom, 5,500-square-foot estate. Interior designer Rachel Ashwell of Shabby Chic Couture was behind the renovations.

True to its Hollywood setting, the home is nestled in a star-studded neighborhood that includes a residence owned by Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman.

"This area of Beverly Hills is dotted with homes owned by celebrities," said Redfin real estate agent Corina Galen. "You can often spot a star walking their dog through the many canyon trails nearby."

Furthermore, several celebrities have owned Simpson's home. For example, Ellen DeGeneres bought the home in 2001, and sold it in 2003 to Leonardo DiCaprio and Cameron Diaz's manager Rick Yorn.

Meanwhile, Simpson recently experienced an uncomfortable situation with ex-husband Lachey. The 98 Degrees singer admitted that he had not spoken to Simpson since their divorce in 2005. However, Lachey did direct a sharp joke at his former father-in-law.

"The best thing about not having Joe Simpson anymore as a father-in-law is I don't have to play grab-a-under the table on Easter Sunday," said the singer, referring to the rampant rumors that Simpson is gay.

"It may not be [funny] tomorrow, but it is tonight," Lachey added of his off-color comment.

Consequently, Simpson was "shocked and horrified" by her ex-husband's comment, a source close to the actress told Radar Online.

"She's upset," the insider added. "Nick might have thought it was funny and he got a cheap laugh, but to Jessica, it wasn't at all."
