John Travolta Donates Jet in Tribute to Son

John Travolta has donated a jet to a museum in Georgia in honor of his late son Jett Travolta.

The white G-2 Gulfstream executive jet was donated by the 57-year-old aviation enthusiast and trained pilot to the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame at the Museum of Aviation. The twin-engine aircraft will go on display during the museum's grand air show in April.

"The aircraft will be on static display only during the air show, and not open to let the public inside," Warner Robins spokeswoman Chrissy Miner told the Telegraph newspaper in Macon.

The Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame is located at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robin, Ga., and works to promote and encourage growth of aviation in the state of Georgia. It currently has two planes at its base and its April air show will be open to the public free of charge.

Travolta and wife Kelly Preston lost their 16-year-old son Jett in 2009 following an injury during a family vacation in the Bahamas. The acclaimed actor's son suffered from Kawasaki disease as an infant and was later diagnosed with autism and seizures. He died on Jan. 2, 2009, after hitting his head during a seizure.

Since Jett's passing, the famous couple has set up a foundation in honor of their son. The Jett Travolta Foundation has given over $50,000 to various charities, including the Scientology detox charity and the Starlight Children's Foundation.

Following the death of his son, the Scientologist said that his faith served as a significant factor in the healing process for him and his family.

"We work hard every day with our church on healing. And Kelly and I and Ella have all been working very hard and they've been helping us," Travolta told reporters at the 2010 premiere of his film, "From Paris with Love."

The Scientology couple have two other children, 11-year-old Ella Blue and 14-month-old Benjamin.
