Kanye West Cites Jesus Christ as One of His Idols

Kanye West appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" earlier this week to premiere his "Bound 2" music video featuring fiancée, Kim Kardashian, while also disclosing that those who he considers to be his role models include Jesus Christ.

"I get a lot of backlash for comparing myself to Steve Jobs, but that's my dream and that's one of my idols. Like Jesus Christ, my dad, and Steve Jobs, are like my idols. And I want to be like that one day," said West, reports Hiphopdx.com.

His admiration for Jesus was most evident when he released a track titled "I Am God" and when a Jesus look-alike joined him on stage during his "Yeezus" tour concert in Seattle last month, causing much controversy. In his defense, West said he is a Christian who was on a mission from God.

"I'm working on one mission and that's a mission from God, period," said West on Los Angele's Power 106 radio station. "So all this negative energy that ya'll throwing against me and this confusion that ya'll trying to put around me, I'm going to make it very clear exactly what I'm here to do and I'm going to apply all the blessings that I've got...all the info and creativity that I've got and I'm going to really help."

The rap mogul has been vocal about Steve Jobs in the past as well, even as far as telling The New York Times that his legacy is taking the same route as Jobs'.

"I think what Kanye West is going to mean is something similar to what Steve Jobs means. I am undoubtedly, you know, Steve of Internet, downtown, fashion, culture. Period. By a long jump. I honestly feel that because Steve has passed, you know, it's like when Biggie passed and Jay-Z was allowed to become Jay-Z," he said.

During his interview on Ellen, West emphasized that he makes the comparison to Jobs' because the entrepreneur and inventor represents his own dream of transforming his production company, DONDA into "the new Disney."

He also said that he has been traveling with a pastor during his tour because of the "Christian" element he incorporates during his shows.

West also gushed about Kardashian and their plans for their upcoming nuptials.

"She's a person that when I was at my lowest moments I could get on the phone with her and she would make me feel like I was here for a reason and I was – I had something to say," he said. "And just support me through that. And also, I mean it's incredible to have a woman like that is not using you for money. I just have to word it like that because you know once you become like a multi-millionaire there's a certain type of woman out there that they go for that and they'll put on like the whole act and everything. But to have someone that has their own [expletive] it's…and her personality is so calming."
