Kardashian Ford Ad 'Offensive to Women': Sisters Seek Legal Action

The Kardashians are weighing legal actions after a Ford ad depicting the three sisters in the back of a car with Paris Hilton as the driver has stirred controversy.

The ad depicts a cartoon version of Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe Kardashian in the trunk of a yellow Ford car. All three women are tied up with tape over their mouths. A caption at the bottom left corner of the ad reads: "Leave Your Worries Behind." In the left corner, the Ford emblem has been placed with the company catch phrase, "Go Further."

The sisters have responded by seeking advice from their lawyer, who said the girls "do not take this lightly and they are exploring all of their legal options" in a statement to E! News.

"The 'leave your worries behind' Ford ads are disgusting, vile and offensive to all women," the family lawyer told E!. "It is unacceptable that Ford would align itself with an ad agency that would so carelessly release these ads."

The ad was developed by JWT India and promotes a car that is not currently being sold in the United States. Ford issued an apology last week for the leaked photograph:

"We deeply regret this incident and agree with our agency partners that it should have never happened. The posters are contrary to the standards of professionalism and decency within Ford and our agency partners. Together with our partners, we are reviewing approval and oversight processes to help ensure nothing like this ever happens again."

Even those who did not necessarily support the Kardashians agreed that the ads were offensive to all women.

"I couldn't care less about the Kardashians," one blogger wrote on E!, "but the ads were in fact very degrading to women and frankly, quite tasteless given the current controversies and national debates over the treatment of women in India."
