Kate Middleton Pregnant Workout: Duchess Swaps Cardio for Yoga

Kate Middleton has reportedly swapped her typical workout routine of strenuous cardio for prenatal yoga, according to a new report.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 31, is said to be 18 weeks along in her pregnancy and in order to protect the well being of her unborn child, she has swapped running and cycling for lighter workouts such as yoga.

"Kate has a yoga instructor visit her at the palace," a source told Us magazine, adding that she still goes on long walks every other day "just to increase her heart rate a little."

Prior to pregnancy, Middleton was always dedicated to grueling workouts in a bid to maintain her physique. She and sister Pippa would often spend hours in the gym on a weekly basis.

"She works out for at least an hour a day and loves to stay slim and toned. She and Pippa use the gym all the time because it has great equipment and it's completely private," a source previously told Daily Mail. "She has even had [Princes] William and Harry doing crunches and press-ups."

Middleton is said to be adjusting well to the lifestyle change, and is reportedly willing to do anything to ensure her and Prince William's unborn baby is healthy. The Duchess is said to be constantly researching motherhood by reading various books.

"She's been reading as much as possible, from how to be a good parent to how to stay healthy for the baby," a source said.

In addition to reducing her workouts, Middleton reportedly also began undergoing hypnotherapy treatments in recent months in a bid to ease her morning sickness following her Dec. 3 hospitalization.

While her health has drastically improved, she is hoping that hypnotherapy will help relieve the hyperemesis gravidarum, or severe morning sickness entirely, according to Australia's New Idea Magazine.

"Kate still looks at food and feels nauseous. She's been plagued with that feeling you have when you've had food poisoning and your stomach's shrunk. She finds it very hard to eat a full meal and gets full very quickly," Jessica Jay, an alleged friend of Middleton's, told New Idea.

"The hypnotherapy is taking away any negative thoughts connected with food from the morning sickness, and replacing them with cravings for healthy, nutritious food," she explained.
