Katie Holmes Spends $48,000 on Christmas Gifts for Suri

Katie Holmes has reportedly spent close to $50,000 on Christmas gifts for her 6-year-old daughter Suri, a new report claims.

The 33-year-old actress, who will reportedly not spend the festive holiday with her daughter, splashed out on various items including a $24,000 Victorian playhouse, The Sun U.K. claimed.

Suri, who will be with her father Tom Cruise on Christmas day, will reportedly also receive an iPad mini, a $9,000 children's version of a Mercedes car, and designer goods, among other gifts. Cruise, who recently finalized his divorce from Holmes, opened up about Christmas plans.

"We have got lots of very special things planned [for the holidays]. We are all going to be together. I am looking forward to it," Cruise told People.com.

It is unclear what gifts Cruise plans to present Suri with over the holidays, although some critics suspect that he could easily outspend Holmes going by last year's Christmas list. Cruise reportedly dropped $130,000 on lavish gifts for the pair's only child during the Christmas period in 2011.

Last year's gift list included a $100,000 pony, $15,000 diamond earrings, and a $1,500 gown, according to InTouch magazine.

Cruise was recently forced to address criticisms that he had abandoned his daughter following false claims that were made by a U.S. tabloid.

The 50-year-old actor had up until recently not been photographed with Suri for months due to overseas work commitments, which prompted Life & Style magazine to run a story implying that he had turned his back on his child.

"Tom is a caring father who dearly loves Suri. She's a vital part of his life and always will be. To say he has 'abandoned' her is a vicious lie," Cruise's attorney Bert Fields told TMZ.com.

"Of course he'll be seeing [Suri] soon. He's [currently] in England finishing one picture and preparing another," Fields previously told MailOnline.
