Kelly Clarkson has opened up about the struggles she has had with her body image.

Clarkson has revealed that she always had struggled with her weight and even suffered from bulimia through her high school days. Now, in an interview with Attitude magazine, the pop star shared a rather unfortunate time in her life where she had contemplated suicide.

"When I was really skinny, I wanted to kill myself," Clarkson said. "I was miserable, like, inside and out, for four years of my life. But, no one cared, because aesthetically you make sense," the singer added.

At the time, Clarkson was one of the most successful pop singers, but that period in her life also held a lot of bad memories of unhappiness all because the people who managed her career wanted her to stay "skinny." According to the singer, she became depressed and thought that the only way she could escape the sadness was to quit music. Also, the possible root of it all was because she spends most of her time in the gym running and keeping a slim figure.

Her remarks had definitely raised some questions, especially from her fans who thought the singer contemplated suicide because she was skinny. Thankfully, Clarkson clarified her own remarks saying: "I wasn't ever miserable because I had to be thin. I said I was miserable and as a result I become thin ... I've never contemplated suicide because of my weight. I said people had no idea I was unhappy oddly enough because I appeared healthy."

Clarkson subsequently fired her manager back in 2007 and had changed her habits. Nowadays, she doesn't worry about her weight anymore is perfectly comfortable in her own skin. The "Stronger" singer said that, at that time, she was around negative people all the time, which might have caused a negative mindset to rule over her. At the same time, however, Clarkson said that she was also around good people, and they're the ones who helped her get out of it. "It was a case of turning around, facing them and walking toward the light," she went on to say.
