Kevin Love Regrets Comments Were Made Public, Time to 'Move On'

Minnesota forward Kevin Love of the Timberwolves has stated that he does not regret being candid during a recent sports interview in which he criticized his franchise.

The NBA player drew attention to himself earlier in the week when he made critical comments about the Timberwolves franchise, suggesting that the team lacked organization and control.

"You walk into the locker room every year, and it's completely turned over," Love told Yahoo Sports. "There's new guys everywhere. And then it happens again and again. You start to wonder: Is there really a plan here? Is there really any kind of a … plan?"

He stated that he was skeptical about staying on the team and suggested that he would leave if the team failed to make play offs in two years, at which time he will be able to opt out of his contract according to Yahoo.

Love later stated that he did not regret making the comments, although he admitted that he wished he had not gone public.

"The only thing I'm sorry about is that I did it in public. If there's a learning experience from that, it's to not do that again," he told reporters last week in Philadelphia before a game.

In a later report he suggested that the Yahoo interview had been skewed to sound more negative than he had been during the interview.

"I thought the story was going to be more positive," Love said according to the Pioneer Times. "I said a lot more positive things about the team. It ended up being a negative article, which I didn't like.

Regardless of the outcome, Love stated that it was best to move on.

"I said what I said. I'm 24 years old, in my fifth year in the league. I'm not frustrated with the organization," he said. "I talked to David and coach (Rick Adelman). I haven't talked to Glen yet. At this point, we move on. Nobody wants to alienate themselves from anyone."
