'King's Game The Animation' Air Date, Spoilers: Deadly Challenges Begin in October

Thirty-two high school students are about to get caught in a string of challenges that may well lead to their death in the upcoming Japanese anime series, "King's Game The Animation."

When Nobuaki Kanazawa transferred to his new school, he is initially weary of befriending anyone due to some events that happened in his previous school. But just when he's about to open his heart to his new crowd following the sports festival's class relay, Nobuaki soon finds out that he cannot, after all, escape his past.

An entire class consisting of 32 students, Nobuaki included, receives email messages from someone who calls himself "Ousama (King)." Nobody takes this seriously except for Nobuaki, who is the only one who knows what the messages mean, and where they would eventually lead to.

Each message contains an order that the recipient must obey and complete within 24 hours. While the initial messages contain harmless, even nonsensical instructions, the succeeding ones will quickly escalate into extreme tasks that go beyond what a sane and normal person would do. Anyone who fails to complete his or her given task within the 24-hour time period will be punished

With their lives, integrity, and sanity on the line, will Nobuaki and his class ever find a way out of the mysterious King's Game?

The series is based on the popular mobile phone novel of the same name written by Pakkuncho, whose real name is the same as the story's main protagonist. The series consisted of three parts, of which, the first two, "Ousama Game" and "Ousama Game Climax" are the basis of the upcoming animated series.

Seven is responsible for the adaptation under the direction of Noriyoshi Sasaki. The series composition is done by Kenji Konuta, while Kan Soramoto and Yousuke Itou will provide the character designs.

The opening theme titled "Feed the Fire" will be performed by the Japanese metalcore band, Coldrain.

"King's Game The Animation" premieres on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 11:30 p.m. JST on AT-X. It will also be aired on BS11 beginning on Friday, Oct. 6, late night at 1:30 a.m. JST and on Tokyo MX late night at 1:40 a.m. JST. Additional information on other schedules and online resources will be available at a later time.
