Kristen Stewart Cancels 'On The Road' Premiere Appearance, Too Ashamed After Cheating?

Kristen Stewart has pulled out of the London premiere of her new movie "On The Road" as she is reportedly too embarrassed to make public appearances following her recent cheating scandal.

The 22-year-old actress, who cheated on Rob Pattinson with a married man, fears that making an appearance on Aug. 16 would only distract from the film, which is an adaptation of Jack Kerouac's classic novel.

"Kristen won't be doing the red carpet for 'On The Road,' she's too ashamed to show her face in public right now," a source told RadarOnline.com.

"After everything that has been said, and in light of the revelations that she cheated on Robert with director Rupert Sanders, she's running scared at the moment," the source added.

Stewart publicly admitted to cheating on Pattinson, her boyfriend of three years, with her "Snow White and The Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders. Tom Sturridge, Stewart's "On The Road" co-star, is said to be good friends with 26-year-old Pattinson, which is even more reason that the actress will not attend the premiere.

"There's also the dilemma of standing next to her co-star in the movie, Tom Sturridge. He's very close to Rob and Kristen thinks it would be awkward for her to promote the movie on the red carpet alongside him," the insider explained.

"Kristen is very proud of her work for 'On The Road,' she grew up reading Kerouac novels and this is a production she always wanted to star in. If she appears at the London premiere, it will detract people from the movie itself and Kristen doesn't want that at all," the source said.

The news follows reports that Stewart's own family has turned on her in the wake of her affair with 41-year-old Sanders, a married father of two. They are said to be ashamed and are allegedly struggling to offer their support.

"[Her parents] feel Kristen has really embarrassed herself and don't blame Rob for not calling her back," a source told Us Weekly Magazine. "This is not the Kristen they know."
