Kyle Glover Dead: Usher's Stepson Dies as Life Support Turned Off

Usher's stepson, Kyle Glover, has died on Saturday morning after being taken off life support. The news comes just a few weeks after Glover was involved in a tragic jet ski accident on July 8 and declared brain dead by medics.

The decision to turn off the 11 year old's life support machine was allegedly taken by Glover's mother, Tameka Foster, who had been told her son would not be able to recover from his condition and that he was officially brain dead – meaning no brain activity was being recorded.

According to recent reports medical bills were also a factor in her decision. Foster had been reported as saying that she was unable to pay the medical bills associated with keeping her son on life support. It is said that the family's medical insurance coverage had expired.

The 11-year-old was hit in the head by a jet ski in a horrific accident as he played in a lake. He was airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta but was recorded as having no brain activity since that time.

"Brain Death" is the term used when firstly all brain activity stops permanently, secondly the patient is in a coma, and finally when the person is no longer breathing by themselves.

A definition of "Brain Death" in children contained in the journal "Pediatrics" states that it is a "clinical diagnosis based on the absence of neurologic function with a known diagnosis that has resulted in irreversible coma."

The Pediatrics' guidelines confirm that for an official diagnosis of Brain Death, there must be all three of the following at the same time; a coma, apnea (breathing ceases), and no brain activity.

Usher and the boy's mother were married in August 2007 in a high profile lavish wedding. However, they divorced less than two years later in 2009. The couple went through a lengthy and nasty custody battle over their two sons together, Usher Raymond V and Naviyd Ely Raymond. However, it has also been reported that Usher and Kyle Glover remained close, and the R&B singer is said to be devastated at the death of his stepson.
