Laila Ali Calls North West 'Stupid' Name

Laila Ali, the 35-year-old professional boxer and mother of two, is not a fan of Kim Kardashian's daughter's name North West.

Kardashian and her boyfriend, rapper Kanye West, welcomed North West into the world last June. However, Ali recently spoke about how she felt about the name.

"I don't care who you are, that's just stupid…period", Ali told HipHollywood.com recently.

Laila exclaimed. And she wasn't alone. Garcelle Beauvais also had some interesting thoughts on "unique" baby names. "I think people are getting a little carried away."

Kris Jenner, the 57-year-old Kardashian matriarch, recently explained the meaning behind her granddaughter's name.

"I love the name North. I'm pro North, absolutely, the way she explained it to me was that North means highest power," Jenner said on "The View." "And she says North is their highest point together, and I thought that was really sweet."

Still, the talk show's host Barbara Walters had questions about the name.

"I mean it's funny, but do you want your child named North West," Walters questioned about the baby.

However, Jenner defended her granddaughter's unique name.

"You don't walk around calling somebody, 'Hi, North West,'" Jenner said on "The View." "You know, it's just North."

In a recent episode of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians," viewers witnessed part of the process in creating the newborn baby's name. Kardashian, 32, wanted to name her daughter something that began with the letter "K," but decided against it for a fear of inciting thoughts about the white supremacist group, the KKK.

"If we name our kid with a K name, which is kind of what we want mainly just because Kanye and I are K's, but then our kid if its a K they'll call us the KKK," Kardashian said on the show recently.
