LG announced the Magna in February along with three other mid-range devices, the LG Leon, Joy, and Spirit. The Magna is the top end of the new lineup but is still well and truly designed to be a mid-range handset. Meanwhile, the Microsoft Lumia 640 was announced at MWC 2015, and is Microsoft's follow up to the Lumia 635.

The LG Magna has a slight curve at the back, which makes it very comfortable to hold. The plastic panel has a grated texture, which gives it a non-slippery feel. It measures 5.50 x 2.75 x 0.40 inches and is available in black, gold, and white.

Meanwhile, the Microsoft Lumia 640 takes its design cues from the Nokia Lumia 635, but its corners are slightly more rounded off. The phone also feels slippery due to its plastic back. It measures 5.56 x 2.84 x 0.35 inches and is available in white, blue, black, and orange.

Both phones have a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and pixel density count of 294ppi. However, only the Lumia 640 has a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top to protect the display from scratches.

The Microsoft Lumia 640 costs $150 for the 3G version and $173 for the 4G version, while the LG Magna is expected to cost $199.
