Longest Female Legs Belong to Svetlana Pankratova: 4 Feet, 4 Inches

The Guinness Book of World Records recently revealed a woman living in northern Virginia has the world's longest legs, which measure over four feet long.

Svetlana Pankratova, originally from Russia, is currently a basketball coach in the Washington suburb of Falls Church and was not surprised she was named as having the longest female legs in the world.

While her current recognition is bringing her an increase in fanfare, she was not always treated nicely for her physical characteristics.

"It wasn't easy because kids do tease you. They tease whenever something is – I wouldn't say not normal – but when something is different. So I would get teased a lot for being tall," Pankratova told The Falls Church News-Register.

It took about six years of vigorous documentation of measurements and comparisons by Guinness officials before she was granted the world record. Pankratova explained that she may have never considered going for the record until she revealed that a friend told her she should try going for the record because Pankratova "never paid attention to [her] legs."

It took nearly six years of measurements and comparisons by Guinness officials before Pankratova was given the title of for the world's longest female legs.

Svetlana Pankratova stands 6 feet 5 inches tall and never was one to go unnoticed, but her legs comprise nearly two-thirds of her entire body. Her legs were measured by Guinness officials and came in at 4 feet 4 inches.

Pankratova played basketball in Russia and was recruited to play for Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. After school she was able to become an assistant coach at George Mason High School during the 2010-11 school year.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity for me to work with them. Because I stopped playing basketball … so it was great to get back to basketball and I really do enjoy it and it brings all the nice memories back and I just enjoy giving them what I know to help them any way I can," Pankratova said.
