Malcolm Shabazz is led in handcuffs by police officers from Yonkers Family Court in Yonkers, New York, in a file photo after his second appearance in two days at the court after being arrested on a juvenile delinquency charge in the suspicious blaze in the Bronx apartment of his grandmother.

Malcolm X's grandson has been the subject of a report Thursday claiming that he has been killed in Mexico.

According to a report by the Amsterdam News, the U.S. Embassy has confirmed that Malcolm Shabazz has died, although the circumstances of his death have not been confirmed and not many details have been given.

However, the report has claimed that Shabazz died early Thursday morning on May 9, 2013 when he sustained injuries from being thrown off a building during a robbery. Other conflicting reports have claimed that he was shot in Tijuana.

Close friend of the Shabazz family Terrie M. Williams has taken to social media site Twitter to confirm the news too, stating: "I'm confirming, per U.S. Embassy, on behalf of family, the tragic death of Malcolm Shabazz, grandson of Malcolm X.Statement frm family 2 come."

The Amsterdam News has also reported that family members of Shabazz have confirmed the death also, but had not confirmed exactly where the death took place, or the exact circumstances of how he died.

Shabazz is reportedly survived by his three year old daughter, Ilyasah, his mother, Qubilah, and his closest aunt Ilyasah.

It is believed that Shabazz was in the process of writing two books, and was attending John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York.
