Mandy Moore Exits ABC's Comedy Pilot 'Pulling'

Mandy Moore pulled out of her role as one of the main characters on ABC's upcoming comedy pilot "Pulling" due to changes in her character.

Moore, an actress and singer-songwriter, asked to leave the show when her character, Louise, was changed. Originally Louise was supposed to be a 30-something female who is optimistic but desperate to find herself a husband, according to Deadline.com.

"Many things change quickly as a pilot moves into production," Moore said. "And in this case, Lee and Gene moved the character in a different direction, it was clear this wasn't right for me. Rather than jeopardize the show, I asked to step aside. They and ABC were very accommodating, and wish them all the best in the fall. It's a terrific show that worked so well in the UK, I hope it gets the audience it deserves here."

"Pulling" is written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky.

The show "Pulling" is about three dysfunctional women in their 30s who live life as they want, against the conventional expectation society has that they should have figured out their life by now. "Pulling" is based on a British series.

Moore was actually the first person casted for the pilot, Deadline, which broke the news about Moore's exist, reported.

"Pulling" producers said of Moore's exit, "Mandy is a pro, and has been very patient and accommodating with us."

"As we moved closer to production, it was clear we needed to go in a different direction for the character, and Mandy agreed to do what was best for the show. She's an immensely gifted actress and we hope to have the pleasure of working with her again."

Moore has acted in the films "A Walk to Remember," "Chasing Liberty," "The Princess Diaries," among others.
