Max Payne Launches for Android Devices in Google Play Store

A gaming franchise that was majorly successful on Windows, PlayStation 2 and Xbox recently launched on all Android devices with the original Max Payne now being available in the Google Play store.

The game now has also been fully optimized for the NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad-core processor that is included in the HTC One X and Transformer Prime smartphones. It now features additional antistrophic texture filtering along with enhanced lighting effects.

Samsung Galaxy S3 owners can also take advantage of this new updated version of Max Payne with the overseas model that also features a quad-core processor.

Highlights in the Android version of Max Payne include slow motion gunplay and bullet time effect, HD quality resolution and textures, highly customizable controls, multiple aiming modes, and gameplay specifically tailored for touchscreen devices.

Android users can also play Max Payne with the GameStop Wireless Game Controller and select USB gamepads.

Rockstar, a company known from other popular titles such as Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Revolver created and released Max Payne in 2001 for Microsoft Windows. Ports for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox were developed and launched later that year.

The third-person shooter follows the footsteps of undercover operative Max Payne, whose family was brutally murdered by junkies who broke into his home high on a new designer drug known as Valkyr.

Three years after the incident, Payne becomes an undercover operative inside the Punchinello mafia family who was responsible for trafficking the drug.

The game went on to produce two sequels and a feature film starring Mark Wahlberg.

The Max Payne gaming franchise that features the critically acclaimed original version has sold over 7.5 million copies worldwide.

The sequel, May Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne was released in 2003, and the latest title Max Payne 3 was released earlier this month.

The game features adult themes and is not suitable for young children.
