McKayla Maroney on Hart of Dixie: 'I'm Not Impressed' Gymnast to Star as Tonya

McKayla Maroney will be appearing on Hart of Dixie this fall, it has been announced Tuesday.

The Team USA Olympic gold medalist became one of the most famous faces of the United States' Olympic team after being part of the team that brought home the team gymnastic gold, but also for her "I'm Not Impressed" pose as she collected a silver medal in the individual event she was overwhelming favorite for.

In the individual vault final, Maroney won a silver medal with a score of 15.083. She performed an Amanar for her first vault but fell on her second, a Mustafina. This fall ended her thirty-three vault hitting streak in competition.

However, even with the fall, Maroney still came in second.

She said at the time, "I didn't get my full block, my hands didn't really touch the vault. I still walked out with a silver medal and I'm happy about that. I'll have to watch the video and figure out what happened. It's really sad that I had to fall on that vault but I'm glad I won a silver medal. I know I can do better vaults but I also know I didn't deserve the gold medal because I fell on my second vault. It happens. It's gymnastics. You can't always be perfect. Sometimes things don't go as planned."

However, she showed her dissatisfaction on the podium and her "I'm Not Impressed" stance became a massive Internet meme as her face and pose were imposed on some of the most historically famous accomplishments of modern man. Maroney herself later also joined in the fun by making her own meme of her pose along with her teammates.

The gymnast has had a whirlwind time since the end of the London 2012 Olympics, and her success and newly found fame has opened up numerous opportunities for her, including the new guest part on Hart of Dixie.

"In the episode, Maroney will guest star as Tonya, a friend of Rose's (played by recurring guest star McKaley Miller), who comes to Rose's defense," a press release from the CW says.

Maroney has not returned to gymnastics yet since her injury earlier this month, and that has allowed her to take some time out and enjoy some of the offers coming her way.

As well as being a member of the gold medal-winning US Women's Gymnastics team at the 2012 Summer Olympics, Maroney is also the 2011 world vault champion and 2012 Olympic vault silver medalist.
