Michelle Williams Talks Low Self Esteem, Toxic Relationships

Michelle Williams, one third of the R&B group Destiny's Child, recently revealed that she was once unhappy looking in the mirror but is now in a better place.

Williams, 32, says she is in a good place after a stint on Broadway and is currently preparing her upcoming solo album "Journey To Freedom." However, the singer revealed that she was not always so happy when looking at her own reflection.

"I'm happy. When I tell you I actually like who I see in the mirror, because for a long time it wasn't like that," Williams said in a recent HipHollywood.com report.

The singer has been vocal about being in a state of depression previously.

"I've dealt with depression," the 32-year-old said earlier this year in a Huffington Post report. "I had to choose to get out of bed and do whatever I needed to do to be happy."

Williams revealed that her depression first began around the age of 15 and spoke about how faith can be used in conjunction with other people to help heal situations.

"We're taught, `Just go to church and pray about it. The Lord is going to heal you.' Well, in the meantime, I believe God-gifted people, physicians, doctors, therapists – that's your healing. Take advantage of it," she said previously in The Huffington Post. "Go see a professional so that they can assess you. It's OK if you're going through something. Depression is not OK, but it is OK to go get help."

Williams recently spoke about overcoming toxic relationships aiding in promoting a happier life.

"When you get rid of, and get out of toxic situations, or remove toxic people out your life, you gotta move forward, and you can't have dead weight," Williams said in the recent HipHollywood.com report. "I love you but I gotta go. Sometimes you feel like this process is lonely. This world is lonely as far as trying to be an artist, but sometimes you got to be alone for a season."
