Mitt Romney's Invitation to Address Conservative Group Raises Questions

The American Conservative Union announced in late February that Mitt Romney will address the 2013 CPAC  (Conservative Political Action Conference) conference in Washington, DC later this week.

At the bottom of the page we find "Founded in 1964, the American Conservative Union (ACU) is the oldest and largest grassroots conservative organization in the nation" and "ACU defines conservatism, grows conservatism, and wins for conservatism" and "We look forward to hearing Governor Romney's comments on the current state of affairs in America and the world, and his perspective on the future of the conservative movement." Really?

Pardon my asking the obvious, but how is a liberal dressed in Karl Rove's Republican clothing qualified to advise us on "his perspective on the future of the conservative movement"?

Given that true conservatives saw little difference between the Obamny Twins' policies and liberal accomplishments, when faced with the Romney dictate that was served up to conservatives through the Republican liberal establishment, they had no place to go.

There was no mystery as to why Romney could not muster the Republican vote when Americans were faced with the reality of who this "conservative" poser candidate really was. From his fathering of government mandated and socialistic healthcare under which he signed-in-to-law $50.00 co-pay tax funded abortions, to fathering gay marriage to America, to boosting funding for homosexual education starting in kindergarten, to opposing a ban on gay scoutmasters, to forcing Catholic Charities and foster care services to place children with same-sex couples, to a flip-flopping record regarding of protecting the pre-born according to which every way the political gain could be achieved, to opposing the Bush Tax Cuts, to being voted the #8 RINO by Human Events, to passing over Republican lawyers for three quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he faced as governor, to supporting the passage at the state level of ENDA, to supporting McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform plus McCain-Kennedy comprehensive immigration reform (amnesty) and parts of the McCain-Lieberman carbon cap and trade bill, and on and on with his documented liberal decisions and policies.

The only choice they were served up was to vote for a complete liberal with an "R" behind his name, or another complete liberal with a "D" behind his name.

It was troublesome enough that CPAC invited the lion Romney into its den in 2008 (do I sense the rumblings of Romney donations here?). If the conservative movement hasn't suffered sufficiently, now CPAC/ACU continues to further the insanity by calling Mitt Romney a "conservative". CPAC/ACU continues to lie in the same Karl Rove enemy-to-the-conservative-cause bed by inviting Mitt Romney to speak at, what is sold to the American Public as, a conservative event. By CPAC/ACU supporting speakers like Mitt Romney and mentors of the John McCain ilk, the younger future conservative leaders of our country are being encouraged to do the same.

Wasn't it enough that this fake conservative lost the election for Republicans and Conservatives? Do we really need to hear from Mitt Romney again, posing under the conservative CPAC banner?

Desensitization happens over a period of time. The left leaning Republicans seem to be using the Democrat strategy of making good look evil and making evil look good to the American People. But evil is still evil and good is still good. True conservatives know the difference and need to take a stand against the establishment maneuvering to dilute our values and principles, and say No More to Mitt Romney, John McCain, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Chris Christie, John Roberts, Chuck Hagel, John Huntsman and other left leaning mislabeled "conservatives".

We are in a political battle for our country's literal soul. If CPAC, and other so called conservative organizations, continue to serve up liberals dressed in Republican clothing to our youth and future leaders, our last bastion of conservative hope will most certainly be lost. That is, if it isn't lost already.
