Fox Business Network anchor Lisa "Kennedy" Montgomery had a heated argument with Emmy award-winning TV personality Montel Williams after he proposed a registry for all gun owners, as the two discussed the San Bernardino massacre.

"Why don't we use this as a reason to register gun owners?" asked Williams, who appeared on Fox Business News to discuss the San Bernardino mass-shooting with Kennedy. "Because American citizens who could be radicalized in direction are sitting there as your neighbor. So why can't we have a registry of who has them?"

William went on to say that he owns 14 guns "and I don't mind going down and registering them, because I'm a law-abiding citizen."

Kennedy responded by saying, "[One of the San Bernardino shooters, Syed Rizwan Farook] purchased his guns legally, but what about the bombs? Should we start a bomb registry?"

The shooters reportedly had several pipe bombs.

The shooting in San Bernardino, California, on Wednesday left 14 people dead and 21 wounded. It is being seen as the deadliest shooting in the United States since the 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.

California couple Farook and Tashfeen Malik and another unidentified suspect targeted the Inland Regional Center during a holiday Christmas party, the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department has said. Both Farook, 28, and Malik, 27, were subsequently shot dead by police after they fled the scene.

William then replied if you "buy pounds of black powder, maybe we should track a person who does so."

"You know what, Montel? This attack occurred in California, and if you want to look at the registry — if you want to look at how it's almost impossible to purchase firearms in California, go to Reason.com right now and read Brian Doherty's column," Kennedy said. "This is not about guns, Montel."

William said he does believe in the Second Amendment, and that all he wants is to restrict "crazy" people from buying guns. "Look, I'm a strong believer in the Second Amendment. You can't stop me from buying any gun I want to have. But I want to stop those people who don't have the mental capacity to own them."

"And I want to protect myself from terrorists who may be working in the cubicle next to me," Kennedy replied.

William later wrote on his Facebook, "Why am I this angry? Spend as much time with victims of mass shootings (especially the kids) like I have. This I'll tell you — the first time you see the look they all have in their eyes, you won't sleep for a week and you'll never get that image out of your mind. Get a couple dozen texts from kids who almost died in mass shootings at their schools who go right down the rabbit hole again when one of these happens and then get pummeled on twitter by halfwit adults who think the solution to the mental prison they live in is to arm everyone in schools."
