Mortal Kombat X Character Variation Fighting System Introduced, Fatality Type Returning
At the recent Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, series co-creator Ed Boon revealed that gamers will see the return of a lost Fatality type in the upcoming Mortal Kombat X.
In a conversation with IGN, the 50-year-old game director elaborated on the game mechanics.
"For those who are familiar with Mortal Kombat, we first had the Fatality and we added a Babality. We had the Friendship moves, Brutality moves and all of these crazy things over the years. We are going to be reinstating an 'Ality' from a previous game into Mortal Kombat X. And I can't wait to be able to talk about it but at the moment I can't," he said.
Mortal Kombat game series has long been famous for various violent finishing moves like Brutality, which shows the winning character making lengthy combo hits to bash its opponent into pieces. There's also Animality where the winner transforms into an animal and then destroys the enemy.
The game also featured "non-violent finishing moves" for example the one mentioned by Boon – Babality, which turns opponents into babies, while there's also the comical Friendship moves.
Meanwhile, NetherRealm Studios also talked about character variation fighting system which grants players three distinct styles to explore or master.
In a recently released gameplay trailer, Kano was shown with the three different fighting styles. First of which is the Cutthroat variation where the character pounds his heart to powerup his attacks.
The Cybernetic variation allows Kano to utilize his arsenal of eye lasers and grenade attacks which enables him to make deadly strikes from a distance.
The Commando Kano variation enhances the character's grappling skills putting his enemies in great disadvantage when in close range.
Mortal Kombat X is slated for unveiling in 2015 for Windows PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360.
