Motorola Announces Droid Razr Maxx Release, Droid 4 and More

Motorola recently announced the addition of three new smartphones to its lineup including the Droid 4, purple Droid Razr and the Droid Razr Maxx.

The Droid Razr Maxx is the follow up to the high-end Droid Razr smartphone that was released last year. This device has been rumored to be coming out for the past month and with this recent announcement it seems those leaks have proven to be accurate.

Specifications on the device include a set similar to that of its predecessor. The Droid 4 will have a 4-inch qHD display, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and Android 2.3.5 with an Ice Cream Sandwich update coming soon.

Motorola added that the Droid 4 will be available in the coming weeks. The Droid Razr Maxx will also have a larger batter the Droid Razr that will provide over 21 hours per charge. It will be available on Verizon for $299.99 with a two-year contract.

Verizon officially introduced the Droid 4 at this year’s Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The carrier describes it as “the thinnest and most powerful 4G LTE QWERTY smartphone offering the power and capabilities to handle even the most demanding lifestyles.”

The Droid 4 stands out among its Android counterparts since it is one of the few new high-end handsets that still includes a physical keyboard, something many smartphone owners miss once they switch to an all touch device.

The Droid 4 will be in the Verizon booth at CES and in the Motorola booth as well. The Droid Razr Maxx appears to be a slight upgrade from the original version rather than a full re-design.
