Australia-born pop singer Rebecca St. James and female rock trio Barlow Girl are among the names of artists appearing in a special musical program entitled “Freedom,” which will air this week in accordance with the National Day of Prayer (NDP) on May 4.

The hour-long special, which was taped in Nashville on Apr. 25, mixes music, art, spoken world, and interviews with young people on their thoughts about the importance of prayer in America, and will be hosted by St. James, who was chosen as this year’s NDP National Spokesperson.

"We feel so honored that we were invited to be part of the National day of Prayer," says BarlowGirl, who will also be joined on the special by singer/songwriter Warren Barfield. "Our passion is to encourage everyone to draw closer to God through personal prayer times and to learn that only through prayer can we bring God's kingdom to earth."

“Freedom” is being aired in accordance with a campaign from NDP organizers to encourage a new generation of youth to participate in this year’s May 4 call for America to pray. Also part of the campaign is the 2006 NDP theme song “American Honor God,” which was recorded by St. James and is the first pop-oriented worship song used to represent NDP.

Viewers can catch “Freedom” this week on several networks including FamilyNet, INSP/I-Life, Cornerstone Network/CTN, NRB, and the Gospel Music Channel, with plenty of repeats in store over the next few months.
