NBA Trade Rumors, News: Roy Hibbert for Greg Monroe and the Shawn Marion Pursuit

With the NBA season just around the corner, more news and rumors of how the teams prepare for the upcoming games are now circulating. Here's what we rounded up so far.

The Indiana Pacers are putting in effort to improve on the disappointing results from last season. Paul George's tragic, season-ending accident and Lance Stephenson's exit for the Charlotte Hornets put them in a difficult position.

However, Indiana's management still believes they have a chance of contending for a championship, according to Fansided. Bringing Detroit's Greg Monroe in the roster could bring good news for the Pacers, although it would be at the expense of Roy Hibbert.

Hibbert-Monroe trade speculation also came from Matt Dery of New Detroit Sports 105.1.

"Lots of chatter about Greg Monroe today. Pacers shopping Hibbert and a source tells me they have called the Pistons about him. All I know," he tweeted recently.

The hot pursuit of Shawn Marion is also big news. He's one of the best free agents left on the market by the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Pacers. The Indiana president was successful in meeting the sought-after player, but Cavaliers may have a better shot to get him.

"Indy is trying to wedge its way into contention for Shawn Marion and Larry Bird did meet Monday with Marion, but Cavs remain in lead for now," said Marc Stein of ESPN.

In other news, Steve Ballmer is now the official owner of the Los Angeles Clippers. The sale was closed earlier this week for $2 billion.

In an interview with the Associated Press, the former Microsoft CEO expressed "excitement" to own the team.

"Really excited — in a pretty hardcore way — to continue the path to making the Clippers a better and better basketball team, and a better and better citizen of the Los Angeles community," he said.
