"New Girl" fans will need some time to adjust as reports say that the show will cast a new main girl for its fifth season.
According to KpopStars, "Transformers" alum Megan Fox might be replacing Zooey Deschanel in the show for good. Fox was supposedly just a guest star while Deschanel's character, Jess, is sequestered on jury duty. Meanwhile, in real life, Deschanel is on maternity leave to take care of her new daughter Elsie Otter.
But Realty Today noted that co-star Max Greenfield made a comment that hinted at the possibility of Fox being a regular on the series.
"We've been having so much fun. She's very funny - I'm excited for people to see how funny she is. She's been really good in these episodes. We've all really gotten along," said Greenfield.
Considering the positive feedback and assuming that the episodes will receive high rating, it wouldn't be a surprise if the actress and model was retained as a regular cast member. Fans also believe that even after the singer-songwriter will return from her maternity leave, Fox will still be making appearances especially since she did a scene wherein she kissed her co-star Jake Johnson.
According to People, Fox and Johnson were spotted filming a kissing scene in Los Angeles. The set photos released showed the pair sitting on a sidewalk while kissing. The other photo showed Fox walking away from Johnson who watches her leave. It seems like the two may be going on a romantic direction that will cause Fox to stay longer in the series.
Fans who have followed the show since the beginning are wondering what Deschanel's reaction is to news that Fox is replacing her. Sources say that the new mom is happy with her daughter at home. It's also said that she gave her blessings to Fox earlier this fall when she tweeted about the actress taking over the show.
To find out if Deschanel will still return to the series, fans will have to watch out for the return of "New Girl" for season 5 that is expected sometime in 2016.
