Newsboys' Frontman Returns from Mission in Baja

Peter Furler collaborates with Baja Christian Ministries in building homes for residents.

Newsboys, recently returned from a mission trip to Baja California, Mexico.

Working with members from Newsboys’ management company and friends from New Zealand, Furler’s team partnered with Baja Christian Ministries to build a home for a local family in the small town of Vista de Valle. He further visited local pastors and families, listening to their stories and sharing the Word with them. An extended trip with Newsboys and Baja Ministries is currently being planned and will include building several homes over the next year.

Upon returning from Mexico, Furler attended the 26th Annual ASCAP Christian Music Awards and was honored in the “Song of the Year” category for “He Reigns.”

Baja Christian Ministries was founded by Bob Sanders, and has been in operation for over 10 years. Last year, the organization built over 160 homes for needy families, and has set a goal of 250 homes for 2004. These homes are all built on poured concrete slabs, and are 16’x20’ with three rooms and wired electrical outlets. In addition, each home is painted in a bright color, making them stand out in the community as a beacon for the ministry. Visit BajaChristian.org for more information.
