Newsboys Snags 23rd No. 1 Hit with 'Something Beautiful'

Popular Christian group Newsboys topped the Radio & Records Christian CHR chart this week with "Something Beautiful" from their fall 2007 studio release, GO. The single's success marks Newsboys' 23rd career No. 1.

GO, meanwhile, has maintained its position as one of the biggest-selling albums in the United States this year.

"GO is an album full of hits that has been connecting with consumers at both radio and in the live arena," Inpop President Dale Bray said. "This latest No. 1 song from Newsboys again signifies that Newsboys are as relevant now as they were when they had their first No. 1 hit 17 years ago."

With five gold albums, sales exceeding six million units, more than 20 No. 1 radio hits, and a mantle of Dove Awards as well as Grammy nominations, Newsboys have achieved phenomenal success in their nearly two decades together. Known for their knock-out live performances and groundbreaking tours, the band continues to sell-out festivals and concerts worldwide.

Chris Hauser of Hauser Promotions recalled meeting Peter Furler for the first time at AtlantaFest in 1989 and watching Newsboys' career grow over time.

"The one thing that has blown me away about their latest project is how passionate radio programmers are about GO," he commented. "I can't think of another record I've worked in the last five years that has had this level of interest. I'm thrilled to be a small part of this latest success for them."

According to Newsboys frontman Peter Furler, 2007 has been the group's best year "in every way."

"And it just keeps getting better," he added. "We are very thankful!"
