Nexus 7 Price Drops to $139.99 at Staples

The original Nexus 7 16GB version is now available at Staples for just $199.99.

In order to purchase the tablet at that price, customers must print up the special coupon that is now available for it. It can only be accessed by walk-in buyers as the deal is not available on the company's website.

Staples is also running a deal on the 32GB version, however, the coupon can for it can also be used online, as well as in stores and on the phone.

The coupon code is 76704 for those who are interested in purchasing the tab at the discounted price. The 32GB Nexus will come out to $179.90 after the coupon is applied.

This discount only applies to the original version of the Nexus 7. Staples could be offering the deal in order to clear out its inventory and make more room for the second-gen model.

The new Nexus 7 was unveiled at a Google press event last month. The tablet is simply branded as the new Nexus 7.The successor is a bit more powerful than the original and is reasonably priced at $229.

The Nexus 7 features a 7.62mm thick frame, a 7-inch LCD IPS display with 1920 x 1200 resolution at 323ppi, a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, Adreno 320 graphics, 2GB RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.2-megapixel front shooter, dual stereo speakers, Bluetooth 4.0, and 4G LTE connectivity.

The tablet also introduced Google's latest OS Android 4.3, JellyBean which was also unveiled during the event. The display on the Nexus 7 is 1080p which makes it the first Full HD 7-inch slate. The device's virtual sound technology is also expected to be quite impressive, as it gives you a 5.1 surround sound experience by using headphones or build-in speakers.
