Nick Lachey: Jessica Simpson Was 'A Lifetime Ago'

Nick Lachey opened up about the end of his marriage to Jessica Simpson during an interview Wednesday.

The former "Newlyweds" MTV reality stars wed in 2002, but ended the marriage after three years together in 2005.

Lachey revealed that he has little to no contact with his ex-wife while appearing on Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live" with all four members of 98 Degrees.

"Is this the part where I can plead the 5th," the 39-year-old singer joked when asked about the last time he had spoken to Simpson.

"Honestly, probably six years," Lachey said, adding that the marriage "was like another lifetime."

Furthermore, Lachey candidly fielded questions about his former father-in-law, Joe Simpson.

"The best thing about not having Joe Simpson anymore as a father-in-law is I don't have to play grab-a-- under the table on Easter Sunday," said the singer, referring to the rampant rumors that Simpson is gay.

"It may not be [funny] tomorrow, but it is tonight," Lachey added of his sharp comment.

Meanwhile, both Lachey and his ex-wife have started their own families- Lachey went onto marry Vanessa Minnillo with whom he has a son, while Simpson is engaged and expecting her second child with Eric Johnson.

As for the old episodes of "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica," Lachey said they remain in his past.

"I have not [watched them]," said Lachey. "As you can imagine, that's not popular viewing in my house. You know, we don't sit around as a family and watch the old DVDs," he laughed.

As a member of boy band 98 Degrees, Lachey earned worldwide fame. The group consists of four vocalists, including Lachey's brother Drew, Justin Jeffre and Jeff Timmons. They have sold over 10 million records worldwide and have seen eight top 40 singles in the U.S.

The group is best known for their hit songs "Because of You" and "I Do (Cherish You)," among others.

At the height of their fame in 2005, 98 Degrees was flanked by other boy bands N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys.

Also during their interview on "Watch What Happens Live," host Andy Cohen asked 98 Degrees to name which boy band had the most attitude- to which the group answered the Backstreet Boys "no question."
