N.M. Man Loses Fight Over Billboard Depicting His Unborn Child

A New Mexico man has lost the fight to keep a billboard expressing his remorse for the abortion of his unborn child.

State District Judge James Counts ordered Alamogordo resident Greg Fultz to immediately take down a pro-life billboard endorsed by the New Mexico Right to Life. The ruling this week was part of a protective order sought by Fultz's ex-girlfriend whose name has not been revealed to the press.

She argued she was the subject of the billboard positioned above the city's main thoroughfare in mid-May.

The giant message board depicts Fultz holding an outline of an infant with the words, "This Would Have Been A Picture Of My 2-Month Old Baby If The Mother Had Decided To Not KILL Our Child!"

The ex-girlfriend and her lawyer, Ellen Jessen, sued, saying the billboard qualified as harassment and violated her privacy.

Fultz's former partner, who admitted she did not consult with Fultz about the unborn child, also asserted that she had a miscarriage, not an abortion. Her attorney would neither confirm nor deny the story.

A local court recommended that the sign be taken down. However, Fultz appealed, stating the billboard is really about fathers' rights.

The billboard does not mention the woman by name.

Her attorney, Jessen, rebuffed Fultz, stating, "Nobody is stopping him from talking about fathers’ rights ... but a person can't invade someone's private life."

Still, Fultz believes his freedoms are being infringed upon and is allegedly planning to appeal this new ruling.

"He said he is prepared to go to jail for this," his attorney, Todd Holmes, told The Associated Press.
