North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory Visits Billy Graham at Home

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory met with the Rev. Billy Graham for a personal visit at his home in Montreat during a trip to the state's mountains, and expressed gratitude that the evangelist prayed for his family and the state.

"While in western North Carolina today, I had the pleasure of meeting with the Reverend Billy Graham at his home in Montreat," said Governor McCrory, a Republican, in a statement, talking about his visit on Friday.

McCrory, who assumed office as the 7th governor of North Carolina on Jan. 5, praised the 94-year-old evangelist for being "such an inspiration and has been for generations." At the end of the meeting, Graham and the governor prayed together "for me, my family, but most importantly for the state."

The governor also tweeted about his visit: "Met w/ Rev Billy Graham today. At end of meeting, we prayed together for me, my family & NC." He released a photo of him with the evangelist and his son the Rev. Franklin Graham.

The photo showed the elder Graham in a coat and tie. A tube, apparently for oxygen, could also be seen under his nose.

Graham has spent personal time with 12 U.S. presidents, including Barack Obama.

Recalling Obama's meeting with the evangelist in April 2010, Joshua DuBois, former head of the White House Office of Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, recently said the president prayed for Graham.

"I flew down and took the presidential motorcade up a mountain that is not built to handle a presidential motorcade and then we just had the most amazing hour with this powerful, yet gentle man in Billy Graham and I'll never forget the truth and the words that Rev. Graham spoke into the president and into this country and then one of my favorite parts of it – Mr. Graham towards the end of the meeting, as he often does, started praying for President Obama," DuBois says in a video featured on CBN's website.

DuBois added: "When he wrapped up we weren't sure what to do next and President Obama started praying for Rev. Graham which was just an amazing moment to have the President of the United States in a spirit of humility just say, you know, I want to offer a prayer for this man who's prayed for so many. So sitting there, being right next to that as it was happening was just an amazing blessing for me and I'll never forget it."
