Obama and the Unsettled Science of Global Warming
During a recent visit to California, President Obama reconfirmed he is a devout believer in man-caused climate change and policies he proposes show he is willing to risk the wellbeing of our families and harm the economic future of our country in support of an unsettled theory he believes is a settled science.
The inconsistencies, distortions and falsifications unveiled during Climategate in 2009 matter not. Nor does the fact we have experienced fewer tornadoes and hurricanes the past three decades and extreme temperatures are nothing new to planet earth. The jury is still out, or so says a 987-page Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 2007 report mentioning the words "uncertain" and "uncertainty" 1300 times and "key uncertainties" more than 50 times. If IPCC scientists admit the science is not settled, and no one, save God, truly knows why the climate periodically shifts, is not the president a bit presumptive?
Might this be much ado about nothing as authors Christopher Booker and Richard North suggest? In their book "The Real Global Warming Disaster: Is the Obsession with 'Climate Change' Turning out to be the Most Costly Scientific Blunder in History," they discuss how a "small group of global warming zealots who have repeatedly rigged evidence to support their theory" persuaded media and politicians "to land us with what promises to be the biggest bill in history."

Booker and North are right on at least one account. It is clear the Obama administration is hopelessly persuaded and as usual, taxpayers are on the hook to pay the penance for
supposed crimes against the planet. If Obama really believed this stuff, you would think he would do his part to reduce his carbon footprint with a bit less traveling on Air Force One and his gas-guzzling motorcade.
Nevertheless, on Valentine's Day, an empty Air Force One touched down in California and then the president stepped out…
He came toting the promise of a $1 billion fund to help people like those in the San Joaquin Valley deal with a drought many Californians claim the Obama administration made worse with regulations. Back in 2009, the administration diverted billions of gallons of water away from people and farmers in the San Joaquin Valley and into the ocean to ensure that a tiny 3-inch fish, the Delta smelt, had plenty of water in which to swim (bless its heart). The process left "hundreds of thousands of acres of arable land fallow or scorched," said a Wall Street Journal editorial. What do you know -- an example of authentic man-caused climate change!
During his visit, Obama blamed California's drought on climate change. Even The New York Times (NYT) disagreed, conceding the administration pushed "the boundaries of scientific knowledge between climate change and drought," acknowledging there is no "definitive evidence that it is causing California's problems" and "most likely had little role in causing the drought." The NYT quoted Climate scientist Richard Seager who said he's "pretty sure the severity of this thing is due to natural variability."
Nonetheless, the debate is settled to Obama and his flat earth society friends. And, we will pay dearly. Dr. Julio Friedmann, one of the deputy assistants at the Department of Energy, predicts new climate policies may increase wholesale electricity prices by "70 or 80 percent." Additionally, the price of food and things we regularly purchase will rise, thanks to another mandate Obama announced, requiring new mileage standards for big rigs that haul the things we purchase.
If only those costs could be passed on to those who voted for "The One", Obama, who promised his policies would cause electricity rates to "necessarily skyrocket." (But then again, it is hard to collect money from dead people, convicted felons, and undocumented immigrants.)
Obama is all in, bending his knee at the altar of the pseudo-religion of an unsettled science. Obama believes it… that settles it…and we are sunk.
