Peyton Manning Record: 7 Touch Downs in One Game With Trio of Top WRs

Despite all of his career accolades, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning had a night like no other on Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens. With his arm and his trio of wide receivers, the Bronco's could be well on their way to a Super Bowl win.

Manning tied a NFL record on Thursday with seven passes during his season opening game. After the game, Manning credited his drive with a fear about the Raven's abilities.

"I felt like we had to keep scoring because Baltimore can score at any time," said Manning, who was 27 of 42 for 462 yards with no interceptions for an off the charts quarterback rating of 141.1.

With a star quarterback on the field and the promising acquisition of former New England Patriot's tight end Wes Welker, the Broncos could be well on their way to a Super Bowl Championship. But it won't be on Manning to get them there alone. His trio of wide receivers also has the potential to break some records of their own, according to experts.

Broncos receivers, Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas and Wes Welker could prove to be a valuable weapon. Last year their season stats combined to make 297 catches for 3,852 yards and 29 touchdowns last.

"This group the Broncos have now has the chance to be the best," Broncos safety John Lynch told The Denver Post, "when you consider the versatility they bring. And it's three different types of receivers."

The trio themselves is not oblivious either to the kind of potential that they might be able to reach under a quarterback like Manning.

"The opportunity is there for us," Decker told The Post. "We're playing with Peyton Manning. We have to make sure we're in top physical shape, we know this playbook like the back of our hand and take advantage of when the ball is in the air, thrown your way, to make a play."
