Phillip Phillips Postpones Tour Over Poor Health

Phillip Phillips has been forced to cancel nine shows from his spring tour for medical reasons this week.

The season 11 winner of "American Idol" took to Facebook with news of his doctor's orders on Monday.

"Hey guys, due to doctor's orders I have to postpone my last few tour dates," started the singer and songwriter. "They will be rescheduled! Looking forward to seeing you all on the John Mayer tour this summer!"

Phillips suffers from conditions caused by his kidneys, and more recently, from exhaustion and dehydration, according to Yahoo News.

Among the postponed shows was the May 6 performance scheduled with special guest Gin Wigmore on the University of Wisconsin campus, as well as a show slated in Dublin, Ireland.

Meanwhile, it has not yet been confirmed if Phillip will appear on the Season 12 finale of "American Idol" next Thursday. Traditionally, the winner from the past season performs on the "Idol" finale.

Fortunately, it appears as though Phillips plans on making a full recovery by the time his tour with John Mayer kicks off on July 6.

In the past, Phillips has undergone several surgeries treating kidney stones, including the installation of a stent in his kidney in order to prevent and remove the build-up of kidney stones.

Furthermore, within days of winning "Idol" last year, the singer underwent a six-hour kidney reconstruction operation.

The 22-year-old from Leesburg, Ga. is best known for his hit song "Home" and released his debut album The World from the Side of the Moon last year.

Phillips is also well known for his single "Gone, Gone, Gone" released in February.

The singer often updates his followers on Twitter with messages about his shows.

"It's some kind of beautiful here in West Palm," Phillips posted last week.

"Wow that was awesome playing at the amphitheater," he added. "Hope everyone liked the show!"
