Plaxico Burress License Suspended After NFL Star Fails to Pay $125,000 Court Judgment (VIDEO)

Plaxico Burress' license has been suspended by a judge after he reportedly failed to pay a six-figure sum to a car crash victim as part of a previous court order.

According to TMZ, the failure to fulfill the order has resulted in Burress losing his driver's license.

The news comes as Burress recently signed a new one year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He will have to take a taxi or catch a ride with a teammate to practice, however, as his license will now reportedly be suspended from Monday.

The suspension comes because of a previous case involving a woman called Alise Smith, who sued the NFL star, claiming he was responsible for a car crash in which she was injured. Smith won the court case against Burress and the court judge ordered the football star to pay her $125,000 in damages for her injuries.

Now it appears, according to TMZ, that Burress never paid the figure to the woman, and so Smith has had her lawyer write to the FL DMV requesting that his driver's license be suspended immediately. The request will be put into effect on Monday, according to reports.

The options now for Burress are to either challenge the suspension, or to pay the damages to Smith.

This is not the first time that Burress has been in trouble with the law. In 2009, Burress pleaded guilty to a felony weapon possession charge (after he accidentally shot himself at a nightclub with his Glock 9mm registered in another state), and spent time in a New York state prison as part of a deal to avoid additional incarceration.

Here is a video interview with Plaxico Burress speaking about the 2009 incident where he shot himself:
