Nintendo's role-playing game "Pokémon Sun and Moon" is offering a giveaway for its players who can drop by a participating GameStop store until March 5.

Starting Feb. 13 up to March 5, players can get a free code for a Silver Bottle Cap for the "Pokémon Sun and Moon" game through GameStop stores all over the United States and EB Games in Canada.

The code should be entered in-game for players to receive and use the free item. From the day the code is obtained, it should be used on or before May 13.

At first glance, the giveaway seems useless because many players who have enjoyed the "Pokémon Sun and Moon" game for quite some time now may have collected several of these already. In fact, most players took to Twitter to express their disappointment about the freebie.

However, these free Silver Bottle Caps actually have a very useful feature for Hyper Training. This means that when the item is used, it can boost the individual strength of a chosen Pokémon's stats up to the maximum level.

As explained by the Pokémon press release, "Once you use it, your Pokémon will be even better prepared for tough battles ahead." However, players have to make sure that their Pokémon are already at Level 100 or higher in order to avail of Hyper Training.

Aside from Silver Bottle Caps, the game also has Gold Bottle Caps which are a rare variety and are not included in this giveaway promo.

Veteran players of the game can look for such Bottle Caps in the Festival Plaza and Poké Pelago mode, but it would take some time to collect them all.

In addition, players of "Pokémon TCG Online" can get a free code that can unlock three new Pokémon cards, as long as players purchase $11.95 worth of items from participating GameStop stores. The free cards include a Pangoro promo card, a Stufful card and a Bewear card.
