Prince William and Kate Middleton: Duchess Rejects 'Vogue' Cover Shoot

Despite a report that Kate Middleton would be featured on the cover of Vogue, royal officials have confirmed that the Duchess of Cambridge will not appear in the American magazine.

“There are no plans for the Duchess to do anything with U.S. Vogue,” a palace spokeswoman told People magazine.

Rumor had it that Prince William’s bride was being pursued by Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, to grace the cover of the magazine the New York Post wrote.

“There’s nothing trashy or vulgar about her,” Wintour has been quoted as saying. “She dresses her age and never looks out of place.”

Wintour had reportedly asked photographer and close friend of the royal couple Mario Testino to convince Middleton to agree to the shoot.

“Anna has been speaking to Mario about winning over Kate,” a source told the Post. “She is really pressing him to shoot Kate for the cover.”

Another source stated, “Every magazine has been trying to get Kate, and many assume it will eventually be Vogue. But even with the Mario Testino relationship, it is not clear when this will happen.”

“The Palace must approve it, and they are very protective of Kate,” the source added.

Testino took Prince William and Kate Middleton’s official engagement pictures last year and is famous for his portraits of the late Princess of Wales, Diana. The Peruvian-born photographer has remained close to the royal family – having also photographed Prince Harry and Prince Charles.

According to the NY Post, Middleton declined an offer to appear on the cover of British Vogue before her wedding.

Kate Middleton has been quietly visiting charities in search of causes that she believes she can “make a difference,” a palace source told People.

"She knows her role is to bring a spotlight onto causes and she will do that – and when she starts, she will do it with gusto," the palace source added.
