PS Plus Offers Borderlands 2 for Free Download Today in Month Long Promotion for Subscribers

Gearbox Software's Borderlands 2 is available for free download on PS Plus members today.

"Borderlands 2, one of 2012's most critically acclaimed titles, is entering the Instant Game Collection tomorrow. Pick one of four new vault hunters (I went with Maya the Siren) and grab your randomly generated weapon, 'cause a pesky psychopath called Handsome Jack is terrorizing the world of Pandora (but hey, he does it in style). Borderlands 2 excels in co-op mode, so team up with up some friends to explore the land. There are plenty of things to mow down for experience points and nothing feels better than a rare loot drop, plus you can customize your character to dish out more damage or provide support for you & your friends," the PlayStation Blog posted yesterday.

Subscribers to PlayStation Plus will have new Instant Game Collections available to them this month as Sony adds a number of PS3 and PS Vita titles.

Games that were added right away are Borderlands 2, Dyad, and Grid 2. For the Vita, Urban Trial Freestyle, and Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed will came next. These titles are all for free download throughout the month.

"You can hop into Borderlands 2 for free later this month on PS3, and this game absolutely shines with co-op, so be sure to bring some buddies along with you while you blast away all the skags on Pandora. You can build out your vault hunter how you like – focus on damage or get some support skills to aid yourself & your friends," the initial PlayStation blog post said.

"Finally, Vita owners can scrape their knees up a bit with Urban Trial Freestyle. Successfully complete the tricks, customize your bike and then challenge your friends with the asynchronous Ghost mode."

The Instant Game Collection will make a new game available every Monday, according to the blog.
