Rachel McAdams Split from Michael Sheen After 2 Years Together

Rachel McAdams and boyfriend Michael Sheen have split following a 2-year relationship.

The couple, who first met on the set of "Midnight in Paris" in 2010, did not announce their romantic ties until the 2011 Cannes Film Music Festival. At the time Sheen, who is 10 years her senior, said that the relationship had developed "unplanned," although he was quite smitten at the time.

"She's talented, intelligent, beautiful. She's warm and friendly. She's very supportive, and very kind, very funny. She makes me laugh a lot," he told People magazine during a 2011 interview. "Hopefully, I have some of those qualities as well."

The break up was confirmed by People magazine as well, although no details were revealed behind the split.

In the past, McAdams has proved that she values her private life. In 2006, at the peak of her career, the actress took a break from mainstream following a miscommunication with Vanity Fair. The actress had arrived at a photo shoot only to discover that she was expected to pose nude. Instead she walked away from the set.

After making a quiet return back into film, McAdams returned to prominence in 2009 with films like "The Time Traveler's Wife." Last year she appeared in "The Vow" and has plans this year for at least two more films including "To the Wonder" with Ben Affleck.

Before dating Sheen, McAdam's seriously dated Ryan Gosling. The couple met on the set of romantic drama "The Notebook." Some fans were angry after the split.

"God bless The Notebook," Gosling told GQ in 2007. "It introduced me to one of the great loves of my life. But people do Rachel and me a disservice by assuming we were anything like the people in that movie. Rachel and my love story is a hell of a lot more romantic than that."
