Rapper The Game's 'Holy Water' Video Causes Mixed Reactions

Jayceon "The Game" Taylor has been speaking about his upcoming "Jesus Piece" album for months and now the artwork, music video and lyrics to his teaser single "Holy Water" has some people praising his efforts and others upset.

While The Game has been vocal about his Christian faith for months, his new music video for "Holy Water" flashes images of bare-bottomed women with dollars being thrown at them, high-priced material items and liquor being poured on a chain bearing the likeness of Jesus Christ. Although a book of prayers, missed calls from "Pastor Mase" and the rapper standing in front of a cross with a crown of thorns juxtaposed some of the vulgar visuals, the lyrics of the song's hook incorporates the religious themes in the video.

"My Phantom so mean like I washed that (expletive) every Sunday in holy water, My Jesus piece clean, even my shoes are Christians, I'm walking on holy water," The Game raps about his luxury possessions in the song's hook. "She came out them True Religion jeans and fell straight to her knees like she was dipped in holy water. Holy water, holy water."

The Game retweeted multiple positive reactions to his song.

"@thegame new track is crazy, cannot wait for the album drop, #bigthings #holywater #jesuspiece #sundayservice," one person tweeted after the rapper had been posting new music with the hashtag "#sundayservice" on Twitter.

However, other people complained about the blasphemous nature of the rapper's song.

"@thegame your album is an insult to the Christian community be ashamed of yourself," one person told the rapper.

In response, The Game tweeted "(expletive) you..#OnGod."

In a previous interview with MTV, The Game explained his decision to make an album titled "Jesus Piece."

"It's not a Christian album, it's not an album that's strictly about church or nothin,'" the rapper said. "It's just a constant battle with religion and street life and hip-hop and lyricism and (expletives) and your wife and your kids and just the struggle."

Taylor, 32, also opened up to Connecticut radio personality Jenny Boom Boom about his Christian faith inspiring him to create a new album titled "Jesus Piece." Although the man known as The Game said he was baptized last year at Bishop Noel Jones' City of Refuge Church in Gardena, Calif., he admits that it is hard to let go of his life before he made a commitment to Christianity.

"I'm calling it 'Jesus Piece' 'cause last year in August I got baptized and so I've been going to church, but I still been kinda doing me out here," the rapper told the radio personality. "I still love the strip club and I still smoke and drink. I'm faithful to my family, so I wanted to make an album where you could love God and be of God, but still get it poppin' in your life.
