Real Madrid Transfer Rumors 2013: Tottenham's Gareth Bale for £33M - Will Spurs Give In?

Real Madrid are rumored to be upping their chase of Spurs' Gareth Bale, tabling a £33million bid to bring him from White Hart Lane to the Bernabeu.

The Spanish La Liga champions have struggled to keep pace this season so far and have dropped well below their rivals Barcelona in the table. Real will be looking to strengthen their squad and to being in some fresh blood to inspire the second half of their season.

Manager Jose Mourinho has been rumored to be chasing Gareth Bale for a long time now, and Tottenham are well aware of the threat that Real are trying to steal away their best player.

The huge offer of £33million will certainly worry some Spurs fans, who want their team to hang on to their best players rather than acting as a feeding club for other larger teams.

Tottenham had a worrying start to the season in the English Premier League but have gone on a good run lately to move them just below the leading pack in the league table. The last thing their faithful fans will want is for Bale to exit in the January transfer window.

Just last week Spurs' boss Andre Villas-Boas dismissed Real's chances of landing Bale, saying it was "impossible" that he would be leaving in January.

However, Real Madrid are rarely put off their major targets - as Manchester United know from their dealing over Cristiano Ronaldo - and Mourinho seems undeterred in his pursuit of the widely praised winger.

Bale's pace and finishing abilities lit European soccer up a few seasons back when he featured in Spurs' run in the Champions League. Bale was widely praised for his displays which took apart some of the best defenses in European football.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs' owners will have their heads turned by the increasing attention and value Madrid are placing on Bale's head.
