Reese Witherspoon Blonde Again, 'Relieved' After Incident With Police

Reese Witherspoon is back to normal after appearing happy and with blonde hair again over the weekend.

The actress had dyed her hair darker for the film "The Good Lie," but was photographed in Los Angeles over the weekend with lightened locks. A natural blonde, Witherspoon's regular look has been restored.

Furthermore, the actress appeared smiling at her son Deacon's football game, according to the Huffington Post.

The hair color change arrives just weeks after Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth had made headlines of a different sort. The pair was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and DUI, respectively, by an Atlanta police officer on April 19.

Making matters worse, details about Witherspoon's arrest as well as a dash-cam video of the ordeal were leaked to the press in past weeks.

The 37-year-old "Legally Blonde" star was seen in a tense situation with the police officer while her husband completed a field sobriety test during the now-infamous video clip. Following the legal run-in, Witherspoon admitted that she was "deeply embarrassed" by the incident and made several public apologies.

Debuting the newly-dyed locks over the weekend may have been another attempt by Witherspoon to forget the incident.

"Reese is so relieved to be back to blonde, she feels like is sums up the core of who she is and that her momentary transgression with the police can be forever linked to the dark-haired alter-ego," a source close to the actress told Daily Mail. "She feels like that happened to another person now."

In addition to issuing a statement of apology and appearing on "Good Morning America" expressing her regret over the incident, Witherspoon proved her support for police after being photographed in a "City of Atlanta Police" baseball cap.

As for her a mea culpa, Witherspoon explained on "GMA" that "it was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse."

"I was disrespectful for the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I'm very sorry for my behavior," the actress added.

The actress and her husband are still coping with the aftermath of their brush with the law. According to a source close to the Hollywood couple, the dual arrests have served as "a bit of a wake up call."

"It's going to take her a long time to get over and she knows she let her family down," said an insider of Witherspoon, according to E! News.

Already mom to two children from her previous marriage to Ryan Philippe, Witherspoon recently welcomed her first child with Toth- a son named Tennessee James.
