Reese Witherspoon Updates on 'Big Little Lies' and New TV Show with Jennifer Aniston

Development for the second season of 'Big Little Lies' on HBO isn't moving forward as swiftly as fans might have hoped. Reese Witherspoon gave an update on the status of the series as well as her new TV show with Jennifer Aniston.

Witherspoon took calls from fans on Andy Cohen's show last Wednesday and got asked about "Big Little Lies" season 2 and Aniston. The actress sighed before uttering anything as apparently, there isn't much to share about her HBO show at this point.

"We're only going to do it if we feel like it's as good as the first season," Witherspoon said about "Big Little Lies."

"So we're just thinking about ideas," she added.

Witherspoon further said that the critically-acclaimed HBO show had no more follow-up in the book source from author Liane Moriarty. She believes they ended season 1 promptly with the female characters forming a tight friendship.

Nicole Kidman, Witherspoon's co-star and co-producer on "Big Little Lies," also said that nothing has been concretely done for the second season.

"It's still not decided because it is a lot to pull together," Kidman said on the red carpet at New York Fashion Week.

Witherspoon, Kidman, Zoe Kravitz, and Laura Derna will be presenting at the Emmys on Sunday, Sept 17. The women are also up for awards for "Big Little Lies" which bagged multiple nominations.

Meanwhile, Witherspoon is also putting together a new TV show with Jennifer Aniston. She's optimistic and excited about the project.

"Jen and I are doing a show together based on morning talk show hosts," the Oscar-winning actress shared. "It's a really interesting world."

The actress told Extra TV that she's looking forward to working with Aniston everyday when filming begins. She and Aniston are executive producers of the series aside from the stars.

Their show has no confirmed title for now and no network or streaming platform is attached but HBO, Netflix, and Apple TV might be interested in bidding for the series once details are ironed out.
