RG3 Wife's Skins Heels Make Fashion Statement

The wife of Redskins player RG3 combined both support for her husband and her love of fashion with a special pair of Redskins high heels on Monday.

Robert Griffin III, known as RG3, is 2011's Heisman trophy winner who began playing for the Washington Redskins last year.

However, the world-class athlete suffered injuries to his ACL and LCL ligaments in his right knee and had finally recovered ahead of the NFL season this year.

During Monday night's first game against Philadelphia, his wife Rebecca displayed her support with custom sky-high heels.

The pumps, which appeared to be over four inches high, were emblazoned with Redskins symbols.

The left stiletto featured a feather and red striped, while the right heel read, "Hail to the Redskins," according to Belge Info.

On Twitter, RGIII fans and fashion enthusiasts alike were commenting on the unique shoes.

"All the ladies need to be grabbin' up these #skinsheel," wrote C.W.

Despite the effort of RGIII's wife, the Redskins lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 33-7 on Monday.

Before the game, RGIII expressed confidence despite having been off the field for eight months recuperating from his knee injury. He was officially medically cleared one week ahead of Monday's match.

"The bottom line in I'm ready to go," the athlete told ESPN. "They're confident in what I can do, and we'll go out there and play."

"Play like you were never gone," he added. "That's what every guy who comes off an injury has to do."

Meanwhile Griffin and his wife are newlyweds; the pair met during college at Baylor University and the two married on July 6, 2013.

RG3 is an outspoken Protestant Christian who is known for making the sign of the cross following big plays on the football field.

The 23-year-old is signed to a number of endorsement deals such as with Adidas, EA Sports, Gatorade, and Subway, and the athlete "earned more than any other rookie in NFL history before his first regular-season pass", according to ESPN's Dollars blog.
